Road Trip 2015: Colorado - Play Dates, Birthdays, and the Temple

An advantage of driving: I was able to spend a week in Fort Collins with Isaac and Dominika and their family.

I spent time with Dominika and the kids while Isaac was at work - we went to a playdate at the splash pad, went to the library, went to Sam's Club, went to zumba with Dominika's friends from church, and played at home.

What if you could just sleep anywhere? Must be nice.

Adelina turned 1 on June 26th - the weekend before I got there - but we celebrated a few days later. She liked opening presents but wasn't so sure about the cupcake.

Showing off the new skirt I got her (right?!)

She was so hesitant to touch the cupcake or put it in her mouth. This child sticks anything in her mouth, including cake, but I think the singing and the candle freaked her out.

Holden's birthday was the week before I got there, so he and I went on a special date to celebrate. Neither of us had ever been to a drive-in movie, and there's one just a few minutes away from their house, so we went to see "Inside Out." We had a lot of fun, and little dude managed to stay awake the whole time!

The movie started with this sweet retro ad about the history of drive-ins. It encouraged us to frequent the snack bar, since that's how they make their money.
I don't like to disappoint anyone, so I took one for the team and got some funnel cake fries. All in the name of preserving history.

A few of the days I was there, I managed to convince Glen (my boss at the Indianapolis temple) to let me work at the Fort Collins temple. I did some touch-up work and helped Isaac frame up a few doorways. Isaac even taught me how to use a miter saw. The floorplan of this temple is really similar to the Indy temple, but the outside is different. It's beautiful!

Dominika's 27th birthday was during the week I was there. I came home early from working at the temple that day and we went swimming at the city pool. It was a perfect afternoon for a couple of hours in the sun with this water baby.

That evening Isaac took Dominika to dinner and Holden and Adelina and I stayed home and made her a cake. I don't think Holden ate any of it and Adelina only had a few bites, but we definitely polished off that 13x9 in two days. Mmm...
