Remember our friend Deb from the cute cottage we stayed at in Maine? She runs the Stage Stop Ice Cream stand, too. Free ice cream was included in our stay. She's the best. If you're ever in Maine, look her up.
Our main goal in New Hampshire was to hike in the White Mountains. We found a trail that was supposed to be pretty moderate but it was long and steep and hard. The views at the top made it well worth it, though.
There's something about hiking that makes me feel alive. I love being surrounded by gorgeous nature, and I love the progress towards a goal. I think it's my preferred method of exercise, although it also comes with some not-so-pleasant variables like humidity and bugs.
But you only get this kind of a view after you've climbed a mountain (or ridden a gondola/chairlift or in a plane or in a helicopter or in a car...).
We were very tired once we reached the top, but the way down was obviously a lot easier.
We then drove over to a much shorter, easier hike up to a waterfall, which was also beautiful.
The stream above this waterfall had all these stacks of rocks, and I was so confused. I looked it up later and apparently there are lots of explanations for them, some people stacking them for legit purposes, like marking trails, and some just playing around.
On our way out of the mountains, Jaime and I stopped to see a sunset, which looked incredible to me. Then I realized it was just my sunglasses, tinting the sky. So we took pictures to show how different we were seeing things. Interesting lesson on perspective - I was very literally seeing the world through rose-colored glasses. First photo - no filter. Second photo - Jaime's sunglasses. Third photo- my glasses.
