The Daily

I'm in a master's program in addition to teaching, and I usually have class every Tuesday night and once a month on Thursdays. The past three weeks, though, we haven't had class so I've been experiencing what it would be like to be a teacher without also being a student. It's nice! I have a whole lot more time, so I've gone out for sushi the past two weeks, and I've been hanging out with my little friends.

I watch Tessa's kids every Monday evening and a couple of weeks ago, Emerson and I made some cookies. They look delicious, right? They were.

Even though Thomas hasn't played in any of the BYU football games yet, it's still a thrill to see him on national TV when they're doing shots of important people he happens to be standing close to. Here's his head in the bottom right corner of the screen. If he could just strategically place himself close to the quarterback all the time, we'd have a Thomas show on our hands.

Last weekend we went out for my dad's birthday. He's a great man, and I love spending time with my family.

In preparation for Halloween, Emerson tried out Cooper's horse costume. I didn't get any actual pictures of the kids dressed up for Halloween, though, because they postponed trick-or-treating a day due to weather and I had to go to a conference for school. Boo. The kids did share their loot with me afterwards, though.

And...there's Cooper wearing the costume. These two LOVE playing games these days. They're really cute to watch.

I've been sick this week and, unfortunately, I'm a wuss when it comes to physical discomfort. I'm cranky and impatient when I'm sick, hungry, tired, cold, hot, you name it. So I'm pretty much only happy when circumstances are perfect. It's a miracle I have friends at all. Wednesday I was cranky because of my sickness and a few other things that had happened that day. When I got home, though, this freshly bathed, Halloween pajama-clad little boy wanted to sit on my bed and read stories to himself while I folded my laundry. It's hard to be cranky when you've got this looking back at you.

Yesterday was Jonah's twelfth birthday. It's crazy to think that it was twelve years ago I became an aunt, which has proved to be my favorite and most rewarding role in life so far. I remember holding him when he was tiny and feeling this overwhelming feeling of love for this tiny human. I could not get enough of him. Yesterday he had a party with his friend Jacob whose birthday is the week before Jonah's. They went paintballing then came back for pizza and cake. Then they have ever-so-kindly joined me in the basement all night playing video games. I had a nice soundtrack of gunfire to lull me to sleep.

  1. I love how much you love your nieces and nephews. I don't have any on my side, but I hope my siblings feel the same way about my kids because zoey absolutely adores her aunts and uncles.
