After visiting Kirtland, we stayed in Columbus, Ohio with a girl named Anna Dalton (yes, related to Sister Elaine Dalton), who my brother had met at a singles' conference earlier that year. She and her roommates were really fun.
Our last stop was the John Johnson Farm in Hiram, Ohio. I'd received a special recommendation to visit this place because it's such a special place, but it's not right in Kirtland. I'm so glad we went. John Johnson and his family hosted Joseph Smith and his family, as well as many other church leaders and missionaries. They received some special revelations there, including the 76th section of the Doctrine and Covenants, about the Kingdoms of Glory. I also loved Sister Johnson's bold taste for color. :)
On our way home, we drove right through Amish country so we went to an Amish restaurant saw lots of Amish people. Jaime was in heaven!
We made it home that evening and went straight to my brother Isaac's house to see Baby Adelina. :)
Jaime flew out the next day, but before that, we gave Suze the Cruze a nice washing (she was VERY dirty) and got our required cheese fries from Texas Roadhouse.
This was the longest and one of the most fun trips I've ever taken. I wanted to stay longer in almost every place we visited, which made me really excited to go back to visit these places again! I'm so grateful for the opportunity I have to 1) live in a country that has open borders so I can see all kinds of different places, 2) have the means to be gone for three weeks, 3) have a job that gives me lots of time off in the summer, and 4) know people who are incredibly generous and warm. Road trips are the best.
