Spring

People always say planning a wedding is crazy. Even crazier when you do it in two months. But really...it wasn't too bad. We chose to cut out a lot of things and simplify others. There were some busy days, but overall I really enjoyed planning and preparing for the wedding.. And being with Brandon makes everything better. He was a great planning partner - more than willing to let me do whatever I wanted, but also willing to offer suggestions and opinions when I wanted them. I never felt like he hated the planning or didn't care about the wedding, but I also knew he'd support whatever I wanted to do. Wedding planning aside, we managed to have some good times during those spring months - my favorite season!

Brandon got baptized in February and so we couldn't go to the temple together yet, but we would often go up to the temple and sit and study together in the waiting room. Every time we went, even though we weren't participating in the temple ordinances, I felt closer to Christ and closer to Brandon. My parents work at the temple and attend often, and the first time we went up there, we saw their van in the parking lot then ran into my dad on his way out of the temple. They're great examples of dedication to temple service!

Emerson's school play was marvelous again this year. She was a beach dancer. I love being able to be at these events with my family! Also, isn't this such a cute photo of my dad? He's just the best grandpa and I love him.

Right before we got engaged, I met Jackson, Brandon's son, for the first time. After that we spent time together probably once or twice a week. He was three years-old at the time and so fun.

I can't remember where these mustaches came from. Someone's birthday, maybe? Maybe Nalon's?

One Saturday, we met my mom up in Carmel to do some wedding shopping then went over to Tessa's house to work on the gold glitter jars for the centerpieces. Jackson was with us and was such a trooper on such a long day.

One of the many perks of working with your fiance: cute notes when you come into work. :)

Did I mention spring is my favorite season? How could you not love this scenery? After dreary winter, running in the spring is absolutely delightful.

In April, Isaac and Dominika welcomed their second child, Ephraim Allen Shoaf. From what I've heard, he's the most patient baby ever, which is pretty much a requirement for being Adelina's little brother. :) So sad we don't get to see him more often!

One beautiful Sunday evening we went to the park to enjoy the sunshine. Brandon grew up with sisters, so he's got some surprising skills in his toolbox. He's great at painting toenails, which is a huge gain for me because I am TERRIBLE at doing my own.

For Nalon's birthday outing, we drove up to Alexandria, where they recently moved and took him bowling at the cutest, most retro bowling alley I've seen in a long time. We ate snack bar food and got root beer from the root beer stand across the street.

Gorgeous man and a gorgeous sunset from my favorite downtown view.

Brandon's great-aunt Karen passed away, so we went down to Jasonville, Indiana for the funeral. I was able to meet a lot of Brandon's extended family and check out a new town in rural Indiana.

Our first wedding gift! Two games from my friends Cary and Carla Tippetts.

Brandon moved into a new apartment in March - the apartment we'd live in together once we got married. As we were registering for gifts, we planned out our color scheme for each room, then we painted. We made a pretty good team - he cut in the edges and I rolled.

When you wake up in the middle of the night and are so thirsty but can't...quite...make...it...to...the...kitchen.

Our final Reading Night Out of the year at work. We dressed up as book characters - I was Daisy Head Maisy.

Jackson playing t-ball! I'm convinced that preschool t-ball is 100% for the entertainment of the parents. They were so funny to watch! He wasn't too into it in the beginning of the season, but he got more comfortable by the end.
